Does Ramble listen all the time? +
No. Ramble is push-to-talk — it only listens when you press the shortcut key, and pressing it again toggles it off. Whenever Ramble is listening, there's a clear, always-visible indicator on screen so you know exactly when the mic is active.
Where does my voice data go? +
Nowhere — it stays on your machine. Ramble's speech-to-text runs entirely on a local model, so your audio is transcribed on-device and never sent to a server.
Does it work inside any app? +
Yes. Anywhere you have an input box, Ramble works. It uses the system's accessibility layer to insert your transcribed text into the focused field, so it works across native macOS apps, browsers, editors, chat clients, and more.
Do I need my own API keys? +
No. There are no API keys to set up. Ramble runs on a local model, so transcription works out of the box without any external service or account.
